The original January 2024 verdict awarded Carroll $83.3 million after a jury found Trump liable for repeatedly defaming her following her accusations that he sexually assaulted her in the 1990s — allegations Trump continues to deny. A separate 2023 case had already resulted in a $5 million judgment against him for sexual abuse and defamation. �

Trump’s legal team is now asking the Supreme Court to intervene, arguing issues including presidential immunity and evidentiary rulings. Federal appeals courts have previously upheld both Carroll verdicts. �
Trump has repeatedly denied Carroll’s allegations and called the judgment politically motivated.
